This article on The Star newspaper was written by Dr Amir Faris Isahak on 19 October 2008 to share the importance of fermented probiotics and his trip to the birthplace of OSN Active Guard, Okayama, Japan. 

At Okayama University, he met Prof. Hidehiko Tanaka and Prof. Nakajima who were doing extensive research in friendly bacteria. He also met Prof. Kawakami from the sports science department of Kurashiki University where studies have shown that probiotics improved the oxygen utilisation and performance in athletes.  

Finally, he visited the Active Guard factory where it’s fermented for 3 years, with different fruits and vegetables being added at different stages. The fruits are harvested from an organic farm on Hiruzen highlands where pristine spring water is used in its farming.
